New book on polar bears from Andrew Derocher

Bringing his 30 years of polar bear research and conservation, past PBSG chair, Dr. Andrew Derocher, now Professor of Biological Sciences at the University of Alberta has recently published “Polar Bears: A Complete Guide to their Biology and Behavior”. Combined with over 150 stunning images by Wayne Lynch, Derocher has produced an eminently accessible overview of the ecology of this Arctic icon and the ecosystem upon which they depend.  The book provides insights into where the species came from and how polar bears thrive in an incredibly harsh environment. More a celebration of the species than a requiem for the challenges associated with global warming, Polar Bears is intended for all those who love nature and care about their long-term conservation.
