New book on polar bears from Ian Stirling

PBSGs most senior member, Dr. Ian Stirling, has had a long career studying polar bears, both in civil service with the Canadian Wildlife Service and Environment Canada, and also as an Adjunct Professor with the University of Alberta. He has recently published a new popular book for the public: "Polar bears: The natural history of a threatened species". In this book, he synthesizes his research findings on polar bears from the last four decades, along with new findings by others, and also incorporates a summary of the scientific literature by subject. The book is well written and focuses on conveying an understanding of the ecology of this iconic species, how it has been and is studied, and its challenging future in light of the threat from climate warming.
