PBSG members met for the 18th time in Anchorage for full five days June 7-11. A packed agenda, where presentation of the new and updated Red List assessment and discussions around the role as independent advisers to the polar bear Range States were main items. A new review of status for all 19 subpopulations was initaited, and results will be published as soon as they are ready and agreed upon during winter 2016/2017.
The group's new Terms of Reference was discussed, and is now close to being final. There were also several invited specialists that added to discussions around various topics as sea ice, boundary changes and human-wildlife conflicts.
