IUCN/Polar Bear Specialist Group 10th meeting

The 10th meeting was held in Sochi in Russia, October 25-29 1988. Meeting chair was Steve Amstrup, and editors for the proceedings were Steve Amstrup and Øystein Wiig.

This was the first meeting since the PBSG was established in 1965 that the group met in the Soviet Republic. This was a special event due to the fact that the Soviet Republic was the first jurisdiction to take action towards conservation of polar bears, recognizing that their future might be in jeopardy.

This was also the first meeting at which there were reports from satellite tracking studies.
